The File Menu on the Text Editor dialog box offers the following options:
Menu Option | Description |
New | Creates a new, blank object. If an existing text or code object is already open for editing, you will be prompted to save it first. |
Open File | Import an existing file. Browse for a file to open using the Open dialog box. You may import Rich Text (*.rtf), Plain Text, (*.txt), and HTML (*.html, *.htm) file formats. The extension will determine the format of the imported file. (Unrecognized extensions will be imported as Plain Text.) |
Save Object | Saves the object to the project. This only saves the text to the project. It does not save your project files to disk. (If you are typing large amounts of text you may want to save the project periodically to avoid data loss if the power fails ) |
You must save the text or code object before you can exit the Text Editor dialog box and return to the Work Window. The quickest way to do this is to click the Save and Close button at the bottom of the dialog box.
Save As File | Opens the Save As dialog box, allowing you to export the contents of the Text Editor dialog box in either Rich Text (*.rtf), Plain Text, (*.txt), and HTML (*.html, *.htm) file formats. |
Opens the Print dialog box, allowing you to print contents of the Text Editor to a selected Windows® printer.
Open Word Processor | Launches the word processing application on your system (such as Microsoft® Word®) that is configured to open the Rich Text (*.rtf) file type. |
Save and Close | Saves the current text and attributes and closes the Text Editor dialog box, returning you to the Work Window. |
Cancel | Cancels the operation and closes the Text Editor dialog box. |
